About the Author

JIM R. SAPP is a former Entrepreneur of the Year, recipient of a Blue Chip Enterprise Award, national business consultant, and highly respected speaker.

Mr. Sapp has over 20 years of background in starting, operating, and growing small businesses. He started Indy Lube in 1985 as a single shop, expanded it to over 26 locations, including franchises, with annual revenues of nearly $5 million, and was named Entrepreneur of the Year as a result. He then purchased Sapp Brothers DBR Leasing, grew it from $3 million to $15 million in four years, and received the national Blue Chip Enterprise Award for this turnaround effort.

Mr. Sapp holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska. In 1996, he was selected to attend the highly regarded "Birthing of Giants" program (a 3-year graduate program for entrepreneurs, sponsored by MIT, Inc magazine, and the Young Entrepreneurs Organization). In 2002, he received a leadership award from the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Associations (SKLLA).

In 2005, Mr. Sapp's book, Starting Your First Business: Gain Independence and Love Your Work, took top honors as the Gold award winner in ForeWord magazine's prestigious Book of the Year Awards for the business and economics category. His book was also named 2004 Business Book of the Year by BookAnnouncements.com.
